Stuart has been a health professional for over 25 years. He brings to the Ballarat community a unique combination of clinical experience and academic qualifications. Stuart holds a physiotherapy degree (1994) with a post graduate certificate in sports physiotherapy (2011) from La Trobe University. These qualifications are combined with a Certificate in Spinal Manual Therapy (2011) and a Master of High Performance Sport from ACU (2019). He has been a recipient of a scholarship to study Pain Sciences through the UniSA which he is completing in 2021. Stuart’s background allows him to effectively and thoroughly assist anyone with pain, particularly active people or athletes on a pathway from pain treatment to ‘performance’.
Stuart has been a lecturer at the University of Kentucky (USA) and the Medical University of South Carolina (USA) in the late 1990’s and has lectured colleagues nationally and internationally on topics related to pain and athletic performance. Over 20 years ago established and developed one of Australia’s largest physiotherapy practices that included the collaborative development of one of Australia’s leading high school based athletic performance programs which held an exceptional reputation for holistic adolescent athlete performance development and injury prevention.
Stuart remains passionate as a clinician in delivering effective, research based care in a manner that can positively impact people of all ages and abilities.
His special interest is in assisting people who have persistent pain that has failed to improve with traditional forms of management. This treatment repertoire is combined with a high performance skill set that includes Master level knowledge in strength & conditioning, athlete testing, recovery and injury prevention to name a few. His treatment skill set is extremely diverse and is capable of assisting athletes from recreational to elite with a skill set that is unique in Australia. Stuart has extensive experience in the world of endurance sport (cycling, running, triathlon) that has included several years working as the team physiotherapist and performance director for the Pats Veg Cycling Team (Drapac Pro Cycling Development Team) combined with his role as the Well-Being Director for the Drapac Pro Cycling Team.
In Stuart’s free time he remains active as an athlete (400m Hurdles) and combines his love of nature with art such as painting.
